COMMUNICATIVE SUCCESS IN THE DIALOGICAL INTERACTION<\/strong>

Abstract. <\/strong>The study attempts to outline the ways in which communicative success in the dialogical interaction is conceived and interpreted. The verbal reaction of the hearer shouldn\u2019t be qualifi ed as communicative success of the speaker, since it\u2019s neither a perlocutionary effect of the opening act within the dialogue unit nor a product of a unilateral dominant planning. As a coequal act the same conveys certain intentional function and attitude towards the interactional model proposed by the speaker and contributes to the joint outcome of the exchange determined by an interdependent choice.<\/p>\n

BILINGUAL PRE-SCHOOL EDUCATION<\/strong><\/p>\n

Abstract.<\/strong> Bilingual pre-school education has made considerable progress since the turn of the century. Its theoretical foundations have been consolidated and its practical results are convincing. The main reasons for success are: the solid methodological organisation of the projects, its principles being: holistic approach, immersion, paralellisation and comparison of the two languages; the employment of two teachers from the two cultural backgrounds, one language -one teacher; the use of appropriate authentic material.
The author presents examples of typical material which he has elaborated and published with a group of native speakers\/teachers in Berlin and Wolfsburg. They have proved successful in German-English, German-French, German-Italian and German-Spanish kindergartens in Germany. Kindergarten goes bilingul, Enfance bilingue, Viveredue lingue, Educaci\u00f2n biling\u00fce. The items fall into 10 categories: poems and rhymes, songs, stories, realia, pictures, exercises, games, riddles, recipes, proverbs.<\/p>\n

Abstract. <\/strong>The article offers an empirical analysis of opinions and comments by
Bulgarian FL teachers concerning the use of teacher\u2019s books. The survey was carried out in 2011 and involved 43 teachers of different modern languages (English, German, Russian, French, Italian, Greek and Swedish) working at schools, universities and language centres throughout Bulgaria. The questionnaire consists of 17 questions aimed at establishing the teachers\u2019 opinions of teacher\u2019s books \u2013 their role, functions and signifi cance for the teacher. The fi ndings make it possible to outline and defi ne the \u201cideal\u201d teacher\u2019s book from the teacher\u2019s own point of view.<\/p>\n

THE THEORY OF MULTIPLE INTELLIGENCES AND ENGLISH LANGUAGE TEACHING<\/strong><\/p>\n

Abstract.<\/strong> On the threshold of its 30th anniversary, Multiple Intelligences Theory is still a regular topic in educational literature, a debated issue at conferences and workshops and a component of teacher training programmes. However, the causes of this exceptional popularity have not been teased out yet. The wide currency of Gardner\u2019s model can be
attributed neither to its undisputable scientifi c credibility nor to its overlap with laypeople\u2019s notions of intelligence. Similar observations can be made in the fi eld of English language teaching. Despite the accumulating evidence, there is no comprehensive theory linking second language acquisition with multiple intelligences. Nor is there suffi cient research regarding the effi ciency of Multiple Intelligences Theory approaches to TEFL. Although voices from the English language classroom suggest that applications of MI theory can be benefi cial for students\u2019 self-respect, motivation and achievement, a comprehensive syllabus on the implementation of the model in foreign language teaching has not been proposed yet.<\/p>\n

Abstract.<\/strong> In terms of interaction, Russian and Chinese cultures are considered as semiotic spheres complex to study. The article demonstrates the study of three \u2018waves\u2019 of Russian-Chinese intercultural communication, three periods of strengthening and developing the dialog between the two cultures: the 1920s, 1950s and the turn of the 20th century. Abstract. T<\/strong>he article begins with a brief overview of the federal legislation on offi cial languages in Canada and provincial legislation in Quebec. Concern for the future of the French language materialized in the 1977 Charter of the French language, popularly known as \u2018Bill 101\u2019 which the Canadian Supreme Court ruled unconstitutional in 1988. Against this background, some of the issues to be discussed are: What are the implications of the \u2018language police\u2019 or \u2018tongue troopers\u2019 in Quebec? Is the attempt to control English in Francophone Canada a result of the long-standing subjugation of the French and the recent resurgence of nationalism? Does making Anglophones in Quebec feel like second-class citizens help preserve French on a predominantly Englishspeaking continent? Will Quebeckers acquire the linguistic skills needed to compete in the English-dominated global economy? Abstract.<\/strong> The Department of Classical Studies at Sofi a University \u201cSv. Kliment Ohridski\u201d was established in the 1921\/22 academic year. On December 2nd, 2011, the anniversary was celebrated with a solemn session and a round table focusing on the most important contributions of Bulgarian scholars during the years in the various fields of Classics \u2013 linguistics, epigraphy, literary studies, philosophy and translations from Greek and Latin.<\/p>\n
