Abstract<\/strong>. This article exposes some  theoretical, general aspects about non-formal learning and non-formal education in European educational practice.  In \ufb01rst section it is presented a learning forms\u2019model at European Commision recomandations  and the active learning approache which justify the importance of non-formal and informal learning in the contemporary, dinamic society; in the second section are sketched  three possible variants  for understanding  non-formal education, reporting at an educational system. As conclusion, the article highlights the posibility of understanding trap, if the terms  learning and  education are used in sinonimy relation.<\/p>\n

Abstract<\/strong>. The European societies change. The roles of the state and the market are decreasing and the citizen will get a more important role. Based on the positioning triangle we will xplain this societal process that happens or will soon happen in European countries. The traditional top-down policy of governments will be replaced by bottom-up movements by citizens. Not today and probably not tomorrow, but in the medium-long term we will see a different ociety.  This forthcoming transformation will have huge consequences for the position of non-formal education. Non-formal education is more connected to the future societies. This article is a plea for the interest of non-formal education, and shows that a different non-formal education is a logical result of transforming societies.<\/p>\n

CONNECTING SCHOOL AND UNIVERSITY: PRACTICES OF NON-FORMAL LEARNING, WITH THE PARTICIPATION OF THE FACULTY OF CHEMISTRY AND PHARMACY AT UNIVERSITY OF SOFIA<\/strong><\/p>\n

Abstract.<\/strong> In recent years, with the involvement of the Faculty of Chemistry and Pharmacy, a number of non-formal learning practices that link school and university have been introduced. The goals of this type of education are popularization of science and science careers among students, development and demonstration of talents in chemistry, support and development of formal education and support of the professional development of teachers. Some of the characteristics of this type of education involve: versatility and applicability in different settings, a broader group of subjects can participate in various roles, and the foundation for lasting friendships and partnerships can be laid. Teamwork, the availability of scienti\ufb01c expertise and instrumentation, former experience, active participation of the subjects in the education grant success. This renders the Faculty of Chemistry and Pharmacy a national school for the preparation of future scientists and proponents of science, of winners and mentors in international competitions and Olympiads.<\/p>\n

Due to globalized economy and 21st century order of things, adult education will undergo dramatic changes the next many years \u2013 if it wishes to meet the new challenges adequately. Traditional classroom based up-skilling and recent decades of \u201ctraditional empowerment\u201d will need to adjust to the new paradigms of 21st century learning. Up-skilling and traditional empowerment are relevant activities only if the challenge is to  find a new job; not if you need to create your own job, go entrepreneurial or learn to manage constant change. The article explains the short-comings of traditional adult education and points to the key elements in emerging adult learning didactics, and links those changes to the European Commission\u2019s Europe2020 strategies.<\/p>\n

CONTINUING EDUCATION AS SHARED SOCIAL LEARNING<\/strong><\/p>\n

Abstract.<\/strong> Today continuing  education builds up the traditional pedagogic objective for development and improvement of the competences of various groups of trainees. Adult education integrates psychological and social aims for choice of self-realization, social interaction and career development. The present article aims at presenting the role of continuing education in a broader psychosocial context with a focus on people with disabilities, and it includes a brief review of the international literature on the issue and the good examples of the Bulgarian social practice. Continuing education of people with disabilities takes a specific place within the system of adult education. It is based on the knowledge about the human rights and the rights of people with disabilities and it is in\ufb02 uenced by the understanding of the contribution of people with disabilities to the society. It contributes by itself to the social inclusion of people with disabilities. Those psychosocial aspects of the continuing education deserve the attention of the educational institutions, employers and policy makers.<\/p>\n

Abstract.<\/strong> This article has been prepared to present the variety of features, functions and potential that libraries have in today\u2019s world. They are often underestimated; they are regarded one-sidedly as agencies of storage and distribution mainly of traditional documents. This is due to ignorance of the library institution dynamics, of the processes around it as well as misunderstanding of its place and mission in the lives of individuals and society. No significant attention and interest is shown to their resources available, to highly intelligent professionals who should work there and give invaluable support to users. Libraries are particularly useful in today\u2019s world of knowledge and information: the world where human success relies on knowing \u201chomo sapiens\u201d. The latter are those who understand and appreciate the value of information for learning and self-study. The author, who graduated an MA course in Pedagogy and has more than 35 years of activity in the  field of libraries, has decided to break certain patterns and preconceptions about them. He will try to present a realistic picture of the importance of libraries in the background of ongoing processes in a global aspect and the expectations to the mission and role of the modern library. Without imposing his opinion, he sets options related to the potential of library in informal education. Whether the professionals who have dedicated their time to the pedagogical career can benefit from this potential, depends on how they will approach to it combining knowledge with vast opportunities that the library of today could give them.<\/p>\n
