Abstract. The article presents observations on the implementation of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages and the Chinese Framework of Reference in the examination systems for Italian and Chinese as second languages. The study offers a critical overview of the state of the two educational and testing systems, undergoing similar development, influenced by global trends in foreign language learning. Emphasis is placed on the decisions made at educational level by the authorized institutions that conduct exams and issue certificates of proficiency in Italian and Chinese. The process includes constant renewal, adaptation and updating of the materials and approaches.
