Abstract. The publication presents (in original and in translation) two letters of Pavel Ioscich (Jošić), Catholic Archbishop of Sofia from the beginning of the 18th century. The decades between the end of the 17th and the beginning of the 18th century are less documented than other periods in the history of Bulgarian Catholicism so the aim of this paper will be to contribute to partially filling the gaps in our knowledge thanks to the testimonies on the situation of the Catholic community contained in the two documents. In addition, some facts from the life and work of Pavel Ioscich, as well as of his fellow missionaries, are presented and the topic discussed in the letters about the opportunities for training Paulician youth in papal educational institutions in Italy is commented on. The published letters are from the Propaganda Fide Historical Archives in the Vatican.
