Abstract. The article examines some of the challenges film translation faces. From a pragmatic point of view, the translator at every moment of his work makes decisions in a series of situations that impose the need to choose between various alternatives. Moreover, the alternatives may not be equivalent. As in any literary translation, in film translation, we expect the most authentic feeling of the original as possible. The basis of this analysis is mainly the language of the film translation, but, of course, taking into account the extralinguistic factors and other visual elements, and how equivalence and adequacy for the viewer is achieved.
